The short version

Tray & Threshold takes part in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you buy something after clicking a link here, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend, or the order we rank things in.

How the links work

Every product link on this site passes through a redirect on our own domain before it reaches Amazon. That redirect adds our Associates tracking tag and nothing else — it does not change the page you land on, the price you pay, or anything about the purchase.

Every earning link is marked with #ad next to it and carries the sponsored and nofollow attributes that Google's link policy requires. There is no code path on this site that produces a commercial link without both.

What a commission does not buy

It does not buy a place in a ranking. Every position on this site comes out of the five-metric rubric published in full on our methodology page, with the overall score computed from the metrics rather than entered by hand. A reader with the same spec sheets can rerun that arithmetic.

It does not buy a favorable write-up either. Every pick carries a stated reason not to buy it, and several products we link to have limitations sections longer than their advantages.

And it does not buy inclusion. Products qualify by having a complete published dimensional specification, which is a standard about the manufacturer's documentation rather than about commercial terms.

Links that earn us nothing

Some products belong in a comparison even though we cannot be paid for them. The IKEA HEMNES shoe cabinets are the clearest case: IKEA does not sell through Amazon, we are not in its affiliate program, and it sets the 22 cm and 30 cm depths this whole category is measured against.

Those links are labeled where they appear, with a line saying plainly that we earn nothing from them. They are included because leaving out the benchmark product would make the page worse, which is the only test that matters.

We are not currently in any affiliate program other than Amazon's. If that changes, this page changes with it.

About the prices

We do not set prices and we do not hold stock. Prices on this site come from a live data layer with a visible verification date, and anything older than 48 hours is removed automatically rather than left looking current.

Where no verified price is available, the page says check price on Amazon rather than showing a figure. That is deliberate: a remembered or rounded number is worse than no number, because it looks like information.
